Hitachi’s New Dual Input Touchscreen
September 1st 2010 -
Last winter, anyone with a touch screen phone either didn’t answer their phone or had very cold hands as a fellow touch screen user, using an iPhone which I got for free from freebiejeebies, I can sympathise fully. This is due to the problem where touch screen phones do not work with just any material. Some parts of Asia with colder climates had come up with the idea of using individually wrapped sausages as a stylus, hopefully this will soon be a thing of the past.
Hitachi have come up with new technology that allows for synthetic materials to work on capacitative touch screens, meaning users will be able to use a stylus or even use gloved hands. There has been no word yet as to whether Apple or any other phone manufacturer will be including this new technology in their devices any time soon, but looking at the accuracy of the new technology, they’d be crazy not to.
